When the azaleas bloom in the spring, no place in the city is more beautiful than the South Highland and Pierremont neighborhoods. Centrally located in the heart of the city once known as “uptown”, you will find these neighborhoods consist of a variety of homes from stately mansions to craftsman style bungalow -cottages. Towering pine and oak trees line many of the yards and streets in this area. Walking distance to Norton’s Art Gallery and 40-acre Botanical Gardens, as well as 23-acre Betty Virginia Park. Both have walking trails and serve as wonderful venues for many outdoor festivals. Boutique shops and locally owned restaurants are within walking distance to many of the streets that make up the Historic District of South Highlands and neighboring Pierremont area.
