What Millennial Buyers Are Looking For In A Home
Making Your Home Most Attractive

Today’s topic is for anyone thinking of selling their home and wants to know the best ways to attract millennial home buyers. If you want to make sure your house attracts the most buyers, learn what features are desirable so you can make any necessary changes prior to listing it for sale.
#1: UPDATED KITCHENS AND BATHS
If your kitchen & bathrooms still looks the same as when you bought your home 15 years ago, you might want to consider some cost effective updates before putting it up for sale. Many millennial home buyers are often buying a home on a budget and they want something that is move-in ready.
An outdated kitchen full of Oak cabinets and white appliances could easily turn buyers off. By upgrading appliances, having cabinets painted a more modern color and adding some hardware could really drive up the buyer demand when your homes goes on the market.
Look at Pinterest or ask your Coldwell Banker Gosslee Agent prior to listing, what the latest kitchen and bath design trends are. Even a few small changes could make a huge difference.
#2: LOW MAINTENANCE
Millennial home buyers generally prefer to spend their weekends relaxing rather than checking off a list of home maintenance tasks all day Saturday. Highlighting features such as a new roof, new windows or a low maintenance deck and siding could give your house that extra edge when it comes to marketing to millennials.
Paying to put on a new roof or knowing they have to repaint the siding a year after moving in will likely turn them off.
#3: HIGHLIGHT A DEDICATED WORKSPACE
With so many work-from-home jobs these days, many millennials are working in careers that don’t require a physical office location and are working from their own homes at least part time. That means it’s likely that a designated home office space will be high on their list of must have home features.
If you have a spare bedroom or extra space in your home that could function well as a home office space, I suggest making the conversion if you’re looking to appeal to millennial home buyers.
Often times a formal dining room is a great space to convert when trying to attract millennial buyers. Add some nice bookshelves, a forward facing desk and some comfy chairs and you’ve just made a great office space!
Knowing how to target and attract the right buyers is crucial for increasing the demand when your house hits the market. Work with a Coldwell Banker Gosslee Agent who can help you make sure your home is shown in its best light and who knows how to target these buyers.
The internet is usually the first place buyers will see your home so by highlighting the features that buyers want, you will increase your demand and ultimately your sale price.
